mu Space Year in Review 2023
As 2023 comes to end mu Space heads into 2024 with new partners, collaborations and products. This year the company focused on collaborations with companies within Thailand and foreign countries. The company continues to grow and aims to have a successful 2023 with its upcoming projects and existing projects. In this article we have highlighted the key events for mu Space this past year.
Collaborations
Early in the year, mu Space collaborated with OneWeb on a project that provides satellite internet to underserved areas in Mainland Southeast Asia.The deal aims to help people living in areas that aren’t able to access the internet through cables or fiber optics, hence relying on satellite internet. Additionally, mu Space was honored by CPF to participate and be a part of their space project. The mission is to raise the standard of Thai chicken into a space-grade standard. The project seeks to provide high-quality Thai Chicken to be tasted and made into a space-grade food option. The Thai Food – Mission to Space program will not only benefit astronauts by providing them with safe and diverse food options but also enhance the safety of food for consumers worldwide. The adherence to space-level safety standards elevates global food safety standards, contributing to Thailand’s reputation of emerging into the aerospace industry. Apart from these key collaborations, mu Space has also partnered with Gilmour Space Technologies on a project that aims to help aerospace companies in the region.
mu Space recognizes the importance of global partnerships and has actively pursued strategic collaborations with foreign companies. These partnerships bring in expertise, technology transfer, and international market access, propelling Southeast Asia’s space industry onto the global stage.
Events
mu Space visited and spoke in conventions and expos in Thailand this year. One of those events is the “Thailand Space Week” which is a significant step for the Thai space industry, and the future of the space business in both Thailand and Southeast Asia. Sam, the COO of mu Space had the honor of speaking in a panel discussion on the topic “The Essential of Ground Station Business in Space Value Chain,” alongside experts from leading companies in Thailand and globally. Additionally, mu Space attended events like CIS 2023 in Bangkok, where James Yenbamroong, the CEO and Founder of mu Space, spoke upon the theme of “Venturing into the Infinite: Redefining Boundaries with Space Technology.” mu Space also took its products on the road to the Motor Expo 2023 in Bangkok, where we displayed battery products.
Lectures and Tours
mu Space had the opportunity to go on a School Tour to give a lecture about the overview of the space industry and System Engineering, as well as an overview of Aerospace, to the students of the Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University. The tour was held so the mu Space team would have the opportunity to educate and teach Thai students on topics based around the aerospace industry. On top of that, the mu Space team was also honored to give a lecture to students at Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration School, International Program. The lecture was based upon getting to know more about the space and the satellite industry along with explaining the career path in this line of work. The tour was held to help further the education of the aerospace industry to Thai students.
Apart from lectures, mu Space also held tours for government officials at the companies Factory 1 facility. The Ministry of Defense, visited mu Space Factory 1 on the afternoon of February 27, 2023. They listened to a speech on satellite communication technology and related technologies such as Satellite Manufacturing, Solid State Battery R&D, and 3D Printing, in order to obtain information and guidance that responds to the government’s “Thailand 4.0” policy. Additionally, The Royal Irrigation Department also visited the mu Space Factory 1 for a tour. The tour held in September was done to show the Royal Irrigation Department of the process that mu Space has made so far in regards to projects, products and the company as a whole.
mu Space looks forward to another great year in 2024 and the company will continue to innovate and seek collaborations that can take Southeast Asia in to the next level in the global space market.
