A Brief Introduction to Solving Complex Issues: mu Space’s Artificial Intelligence
AI has become an integral part of every technological advancement in contemporary times. Here at mu Space we have a team dedicated solely to researching and developing Artificial Intelligence. Whether its for use within the product itself or used for manufacturing purposes, AI is here to remain and continuously advance in the near future.
mu Space has spent years researching and developing batteries, including their outstanding research on solid state batteries, in order to come up with a product that answers the market’s demands. mu Space’s solid-state batteries require advanced Battery Management System (BMS) to monitor and manage battery cells, ultimately maximizing the batteries’ performance and keeping them healthy for various missions. For example, machine learning is used to predict the battery behavior and optimize the charging process to extend the battery lifetime, or being able to detect the heat level of the battery, allowing it to warn the user of an overheating battery. This ability requires the presence of AI, and as mentioned above mu Space has a team solely dedicated to researching and developing Artificial Intelligence.
mu Space’s chip development focuses on accelerating computation for AI on edge devices for example, in power systems, robots and factories. Our FPGA development helps increase performance and efficiency for matrix multiplication tasks which is the foundation for all AI-related calculations. Preliminarily, we are able to achieve over 200 GOPS at 200 MHz. We will begin scaling up in 2023 and continue to improve its performance further.
Another example of AI usage, apart from batteries and its management system, is its utilization in factories, like mu Space’s Factory 1. mu Space has been working on designing a functioning robot for office usage, the way AI fits in this project is that the robot uses its function to detect objects around it and avoids crashing into them.
mu Space continues to develop high-quality products for satellites and other space-related projects, the mu Space Artificial Intelligence is incorporated into various products the company sells. This technology is vital to the function of every satellite and its power system.
