mu Space’s Stellar Journey: Five Space Missions and a Bold Lunar Vision
At mu Space, we’re not just reaching for the stars we’re making history. Since 2018, we’ve embarked on five groundbreaking space missions, each propelling us closer to our vision of transforming Thailand into a global space innovator. From sending cutting-edge payloads to the edge of space to serving Thai cuisine on the International Space Station, our journey has been one of innovation, collaboration, and inspiration. Now, with our recent Lunar Exploration Collaboration, we’re setting our sights on the Moon, ready to redefine what’s possible.
Pioneering Space with Five Historic Missions
Our space odyssey began with a commitment to push boundaries and inspire the next generation. Over five missions, we’ve honed our expertise in payload development, microgravity research, and space logistics, cementing our role as Thailand’s leading space technology company. Here’s a look at our stellar achievements:
- New Shepard Mission 9 (July 2018)
We kicked off our space journey with Blue Origin’s New Shepard Mission 9, launching a payload that included a silicon bleeding-prevention device, carbon nanotubes, and vacuum-sealed food. This mission tested materials in microgravity, laying the groundwork for our future endeavors and proving Thailand’s potential in space innovation. - New Shepard Mission 11 (May 2019)
Building on our success, we sent a payload to the boundary of space to inspire public curiosity about space exploration. This mission wasn’t just about science it was about igniting a passion for discovery across Thailand and beyond. - New Shepard Mission 12 (December 2019)
Continuing our partnership with Blue Origin, we launched another payload to deepen microgravity research and engage communities. By bringing space closer to home, we sparked conversations about Thailand’s role in the cosmos. - New Shepard Mission 13 (October 2020)
In collaboration with TOT Public Company Limited, we sent an ambitious payload packed with electronic devices and sensors. This mission showcased our ability to handle complex technologies, reinforcing our leadership in space research. - Axiom Mission 4 (June 2025)
In a historic milestone, we partnered with CP Foods and Nanoracks to send Thai chicken dishes to the International Space Station. Certified to NASA’s rigorous Space Food Safety Standards, this mission celebrated Thai culture and showcased our expertise in navigating complex space logistics. It was a proud moment for Thailand, watched by millions during the launch on June 25, 2025.
These missions have not only advanced scientific knowledge but also inspired a nation, proving that Thailand can shine on the global space stage.
A Giant Leap Forward: Lunar Exploration Collaboration
On November 8, 2024, during Thailand Space Week 2024, mu Space took a bold step toward the future by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Thailand’s Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and Japan’s ispace, inc. This landmark partnership, under Thailand’s National Space Experiment and Exploration initiative, sets the stage for a lunar exploration program that will propel Thailand into the forefront of the global space economy.
Together, we’re exploring the feasibility of lunar missions, developing cutting-edge technologies for payloads up to 100 kg, and training the next generation of Thai space professionals. With ispace’s expertise in lunar landers and rovers, GISTDA’s leadership in geo-informatics, and mu Space’s proven track record in space missions, this collaboration is a game-changer. It’s not just about reaching the Moon it’s about building a sustainable lunar economy and fostering international cooperation between Thailand and Japan.
Why This Matters
Our five space missions have equipped us with the expertise to tackle the challenges of lunar exploration. From testing communication systems on New Shepard to coordinating the Thai Food – Mission to Space program, we’ve shown we can deliver results under the toughest conditions. This experience positions us to lead Thailand’s lunar ambitions, creating opportunities for innovation, investment, and global impact.
Looking to the Stars
At mu Space, we believe space is for everyone. Our journey from suborbital flights to lunar aspirations—reflects our commitment to pushing boundaries and inspiring progress. The Lunar Exploration Collaboration is just the beginning. With our partners at GISTDA and ispace, we’re building a future where Thailand not only reaches the Moon but helps shape the space economy of tomorrow.
Join us as we continue to dream big, explore far, and make Thailand a beacon of space innovation. Stay tuned for updates on our lunar mission and more ways to get involved in this exciting new chapter!
