Bridging the Divide – Advancing Aerospace and Empowering Communities:
The Journey of James Yenbamroong in Aerospace Technology and Connectivity Initiatives
PART 2
The aerospace industry has been experiencing constant growth in recent years. From satellite technology to space-grade batteries and components, it has witnessed the introduction of numerous innovations and products.
In the previous edition of mu Space Sit Downs, James Yenbamroong, CEO & CTO of mu Space, discussed his early vision of mu Space and the aerospace industry, however in this 2nd edition James discusses the future of the industry and the potential of aerospace technology.
1.
Satellite technology is now being used in almost every aspect of a human’s life from communication, entertainment, business, healthcare, education and all the way to security. Was this something you foresaw when starting mu Space?
I have long been aware of the potential that satellites possess and their ability to help solve problems in an array of industries. However due to its high operating costs it was overlooked by many industries. But in today’s world due to the decrease in costs of launching a satellite and due to continuous projections that the prices will decrease further, we have seen many new industries starting to utilize satellite technology.
Here at mu Space, while our primary focus lies in telecommunications space and space manufacturing, we have the flexibility to tailor our satellites to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Whether it's for healthcare advancements, educational endeavors, or any other purpose, we are committed to tailoring our satellite solutions accordingly.
2.
Can you elaborate on the role of partnerships and collaborations in mu Space’s journey? Have there been any notable collaborations that have significantly impacted the company’s success?
Some key partnerships and collaborations include the government agency, GISTDA, Blue Origin, Gilmour Space Technologies, Spacebelt, CPF and the deal we signed with OneWeb. Our deal with OneWeb helps provide internet services to remote and underserved communities, therefore helping improve lives. Our deal with CPF will help promote Thai products to an international level. We are starting to see a growth in interest regarding the space industry in Southeast Asia which matches our main goal which is to see our region succeed in this industry in the near future.
3.
What are some of the major trends or developments in the aerospace industry that you believe will shape mu Space’s strategy and direction in the coming years?
As satellites increasingly integrate into numerous industries, we are committed to harnessing this opportunity and advancing our space technologies and satellites. This commitment is demonstrated by our constant innovation in satellite technology and the mu-B200, our own satellite project. These developments exemplify our dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation in the field of space technology.
Beyond that in the future, mu Space looks to continue developing its high-powered power system and other advanced techs as well. The company has achieved its goal of being vertically integrated, but is keen on being even more vertically integrated in the future. Furthermore, I believe we have strong relationships with our committed partners and we also have strong intellectual properties.
Also the major trends in the aerospace industry all point towards the cost coming down making it a very interesting industry to invest in.
4.
In your opinion, what are the key challenges or opportunities that the aerospace industry as a whole will face in the near future, and how is mu Space positioning itself to address them?
In the near future, the aerospace industry is likely to face several key challenges and opportunities.
Challenges: One challenge will be the increasing demand for space sustainability. Another challenge is the growing competition in the industry, with more players entering the market.
Opportunities: However, this also presents opportunities for collaboration and partnerships. To address these challenges and seize opportunities, mu Space is actively investing in research and development to create innovative, sustainable space technologies.
Our Position: For mu Space at this moment, we are determined to position ourselves as leaders in creating a Space Supply Chain in the Southeast Asian region, making it a reality in the near future. This will enable the economy in this region to grow significantly in many aspects and will allow mu Space to reach its goal and be positioned as a Top 5 tech company in Southeast Asia.
5.
As mu Space continues to grow and innovate, what are your big goals?
Since the inception of our company, our overarching objective has been to improve the lives of people through space technologies. Therefore, mu Space remains dedicated to manufacturing satellites and developing cutting-edge space technologies. Nevertheless, we envision a future that extends beyond these endeavors, where we actively contribute to environmental sustainability in space.
As such, our goal is to become a player in the space sustainability industry as we progress forward. Ultimately, we have something we call a ‘super goal’ and that is to be able to solve the ever-diminishing natural resources problem on earth, by searching for alternative resources in space. mu Space aims to be a Top-5 space company in Southeast Asia and is committed to conducting further research and development to access new markets.
